As part of the Lifewind project, wind turbines approaching their intended operational lifetime are being inspected to determine damages, if any to the turbine components, and to take into account the inspection findings in the remaining life assessment.
In this regard the project has already inspected Nordtank 500 kW, Vestas V52 and Bonus 1.3 MW wind turbines. It has also now completed the inspection of 3 offshore wind turbines on the Horns Rev 1 wind farm. The results of the inspections are available on the project internal sharepoint site and will be presented at a suitable external event.
